Removing Outlook Search Results Limit

Hi,

I am using Outlook 2016 (Build 1609 v.7369.2120), 32 bit installed from Office Click-to-Run in order to use Shared Activation mode. I'm connected to an Office 365 mailbox with all email cached. This is running on a new PC, the email cache has finished downloading, and Outlook believes that all email has finished indexing. There are about 35,000 items in the inbox alone.

By default, Outlook 2016 seems to impose search result limits of 250. To remove the limit, you can uncheck the box in File >> Options >> Search >> Improve search speed by limiting the number of results shown. This increases the limit to 1000, and also creates the registry key in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Search for SearchResultsCap and sets it to 0.

According to all documentation I can find, SearchResultsCap should take any value and make that your new result cap. It doesn't. Any value other than 0 forces Outlook to go back to the original default limit of 250.

Is there any way to actually remove this limit, or is SearchResultsCap just a flag that exists to determine whether or not the "Improve search speeds by limiting the number of results shown" checkbox is checked?

This probably wouldn't be as frustrating, as switching the search location from "Current Mailbox" to "All Mail Items" yields unlimited results, but the option for the default search location in File >> Options >> Search >> Include results only from: All Mail Items doesn't work at all. No matter what selection I make, it always defaults to current mailbox.

This behavior is replicated on Build 7369.2118, and on at least 3 different PCs with 2 different mailboxes.
